FAQs

What makes Warm Wales different?
We are a Community Interest Company and one of the first in Wales. We work for the benefit of communities and we work closely with County Councils and Housing Associations with the aim of cutting your fuel bills and making your home warmer. We also partner with Wales & West Utilities to bring mains gas to your homes.

Won’t this be expensive? Will I have to pay?
In most cases, your council or housing association, has worked with us to find funds for home improvement services we provide. That means that most householders may not have to contribute any money towards the work. We will always try to help vulnerable clients by finding grants and other organisations who may be able to help with the cost of home improvements.

How do I know if I qualify for help?
We will ask you some questions which will help us work out if you qualify. Although some of the information we ask for is personal, it’s important you give us the answers so we can work out if you’re entitled to any grants. We promise that we will not pass on this information without your permission. In most cases, each householder in the regeneration area will receive a letter and information pack before we call or visit, explaining about the scheme. Even if you do not live in the areas we are currently working in, you may still qualify for help with home improvements or bringing mains gas to your home. To discuss your needs, just give us a call on 01656 747622.

What if I don’t qualify for any help?
Even if you don’t qualify for any grants, we will still be able to give you some tips and advice on making your home more energy efficient. In addition, we offer all households the chance to have big discounts on home insulation measures if they unfortunately don’t qualify free of charge.

What sort of things could I get help with?
If you qualify, you could get help with things like internal wall insulation, external wall insulation, cavity wall and loft insulation, hot water tank jackets and perhaps even improved central heating.

If I fill in the survey, what happens next?
If you qualify for work to be done, a surveyor will visit you to see exactly what needs to be done. Our contractor will then get in touch with you to arrange when the work can take place. It’s as simple as that!

How long will this take?
It will depend upon what work needs to be done. But we hope that any work can be carried out within a few weeks after the survey.

I live in a rented house or flat. Will my landlord let us have the work done if we qualify?
We will contact your landlord to tell them about the home improvement offers. If they give permission, we can do the work for you. Where you do not qualify for any offers, our contractors can offer a discount to your landlord.

Can I get a grant to help me pay my fuel bill?
No. But our team can help you to find out if there are any other benefits that you can claim.

How will I know who you are when you call?
Our staff will all have DBS checks and will wear a distinctive red uniform with the Warm Wales dragon logo. They will carry identity cards. Please ask to see this identity card before allowing anyone into your home.
