FAQs

What makes Warm Wales different?
It was the first scheme and only scheme of its kind in Wales. We work closely with County councils’ with the aim of cutting your fuel bills and making your home warmer.

Won’t this be expensive? Will I have to pay?
Your council has worked with us to find funds for this service. That means householder’s in most need won’t have to pay a penny.

How do I know if I qualify for help?
We send our team around to ask you some questions which will help us work out if you qualify. Although some of the information we ask for is personal, it’s important you give us the answers so we can work out if you’re entitled to any grants. We promise that we won’t pass on this information without your permission.
Each householder in the qualifying area will receive a letter and information pack before we call explaining about the scheme.

What if I don’t qualify for any help?
Even if you don’t qualify for any grants, we will still be able to give you some tips on making your home more energy efficient. Everyone who helps us complete the survey and signs it will receive some energy efficient light bulbs. In addition, we offer all households the chance to have big discounts on home insulation measures if they unfortunately don’t qualify free of charge.

What sort of things could I get help with?
If you qualify, you could get help with things like cavity wall and loft insulation, hot water tank jackets and perhaps even improved central heating, too.

If I fill in the survey, what happens next?
If you qualify for work to be done, a surveyor will visit you to see exactly what needs to be done. Our contractor will then get in touch with you to arrange when the work can take place. It’s as simple as that!

How long will this take?
It will depend upon what work needs to be done. But we hope that any work can be carried out within a few weeks after the survey.

I live in a rented house or flat. Will my landlord let us have the work done if we qualify?
We will contact your landlord to tell them about the free offer. If they give permission, we can do the work for you. Where you do not qualify for the free work, our contractors can offer a discount to your landlord.

Can I get a grant to help me pay my fuel bill?
No. But our team can help you to find out if there are any other benefits that you can claim.

How will I know who you are when you call?
Our staff will all have had CRB checks and will wear a distinctive red uniform with the scheme’s dragon logo. They will carry identity cards. Please ask to see this identity card before allowing anyone into your home.
