Professor Phil Jones (Chair)
Phil is Head of School and Director of Architectural Science at the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA), Cardiff University. He has a national and international reputation as a leading expert in his field of energy use, environmental design and sustainability in the built environment. Under his leadership, WSA has become one of the largest and most prestigious architectural schools in the UK. Phil has acted as a UK government adviser for building regulations and chaired several working groups. Currently, he chairs the European COST C23 ‘Low carbon Urban Built Environments’ network which has 19 member states. Phil joined Warm Wales as a Member and as Chair of the Board when the company was established in 2004.
Phil Roberts
Phil joined the Board in 2008 when he was Deputy Chief Executive at Grwp Gwalia Cyf, a leading provider of affordable housing and support services. Phil has a master’s degree in environment architecture and is a chartered surveyor with a particular interest in combining high quality design with environmental principles and technologies. Phil is a Member of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales, visiting lecturer and Honorary Research Fellow with the Welsh School of Architecture and Chair of Wood Knowledge Wales. In July 2009, Phil became Chief Executive of Warm Wales.
Richard Grant O.B.E
Richard is an environmental scientist who has worked for major international companies such as Shell, Shell International, BP and National Grid. Currently, Richard is a Non-Executive Director at Warm Wales. He is credited with leading the development of fuel poverty solutions within the UK as the then Director of National Grid’s Affordable Warmth Programme and head of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform’s Design and Demonstration Unit. Richard received an OBE for services to the energy industry in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for June 2009. He also serves as a Board member with Kirklees Energy Services, a community interest company which manages one of the largest fuel poverty schemes in the UK.
Julian Buttery
Julian is Head of UK Community Relations for National Grid. National Grid owns and operates gas and Electricity Transmission and Gas Distribution Networks across the UK and the US. Julian is responsible for delivering the UK regulated business community and social based activities. This includes community relations around infrastructure projects, community volunteering, community sponsorships and public affairs. He previously worked for British gas and, through its successor companies, has held various positions in Sales and marketing, IT systems, Strategy Development, Regulation and Communications. Julian became a board member of Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes in July 2010.
JayneAnn Hamilton
JayneAnn has considerable experience in providing support services within a diverse range of organisations including retailing, not for profit organisations and private companies. With a law degree from the London School of Economics and over 30 years experience as an HR professional she now runs her own HR consultancy. Jayne has a significant track record of supporting growth and change management within fast moving successful organisations. She is a Board member and former Chair of the Corporate Board of a large further education college in South West Wales. JayneAnn became a board member of Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes in August 2010.
Bill Harrison
Bill is a professionally qualified Chartered and Certified Accountant (FCCA) and has held the post of Finance Director as well as other senior finance roles in a number of international companies. He has developed his career into other business functions including manufacturing operations, supply chain management, sales & marketing becoming the Managing Director of a number of businesses across many industry sectors including electronics, automotive, aerospace, engineering, printing, food, retail, IT and business support services. Bill also worked as a Project manager for the WDA responsible for their Source Wales Aeronautics Initiative sourcing some £20million of Welsh based products and services for British Airways. Most recently Bill has worked with Venture Wales, utilising his full skill-set in supporting a number of high growth SMEs start ups as well as managing their Turnaround Division. Bill became a board member of Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes in December 2011.
