Professor Phil Jones (Chair)
Phil is Head of School and Director of Architectural Science at the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA), Cardiff University. He has a national and international reputation as a leading expert in his field of energy use, environmental design and sustainability in the built environment. Under his leadership, WAS has become one of the largest and most prestigious architectural schools in the UK. Phil has acted as a UK government adviser for building regulations and chaired several working groups. Currently, he chairs the European COST C23 ‘Low carbon Urban Built Environments’ network which has 19 member states. Phil joined Warm Wales as a Member and as Chair of the Board when the company was established in 2004.
Phil Roberts
Phil joined the Board in 2008 when he was Deputy Chief Executive at Grwp Gwalia Cyf, a leading provider of affordable housing and support services. Phil has a master’s degree in environment architecture and is a chartered surveyor with a particular interest in combining high quality design with environmental principles and technologies. Phil is a Member of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales, visiting lecturer and Honorary Research Fellow with the Welsh School of Architecture and Chair of Wood Knowledge Wales. In July 2009, Phil became Chief Executive of Warm Wales.
Richard Grant O.B.E
Richard is an environmental scientist who has worked for major international companies such as Shell, Shell International, BP and National Grid. Currently, Richard is Development Director at Warm Wales. He is credited with leading the development of fuel poverty solutions within the UK as the then Director of National Grid’s Affordable Warmth Programme and head of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform’s Design and Demonstration Unit. Richard received an OBE for services to the energy industry in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for June 2009. He also serves as a Board member with Kirklees Energy Services, a community interest company which manages one of the largest fuel poverty schemes in the UK.
Ian Parfitt
Ian is a chartered quantity surveyor and has established and managed several private companies. He is Managing Director of Richard Parfitt Associates who provide survey and project management services to major clients in the retail, banking and education sectors. RPA is one of the few Welsh based business to have undertaken major PFI contracts. Ian contributes his knowledge as well as his commercial expertise in private business to the Board.
John Wybrew
John is a qualified engineer and has held senior executive positions in many international companies including the Shell Group, British Gas and its successor companies. He served on the Board of Shell UK, the second largest Shell operating company, for seven years. During the late 1980’s, he also served a three year secondment with the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit, advising on energy and transport polices. John is a non-executive Member of the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (OFGEM) and Chair of both the British Energy Council and Energy and Utility Skills, a sector skills council.
Stephen Berry
Company Secretary. Support to the Board.
Stephen Berry is a qualified solicitor with Cardiff firm M&A Solicitors and supports the Board as Company Secretary.
