Community Warmth
Warm Wales in partnership with npower, work with many Local Authorities across Wales, to deliver Affordable Warmth projects in the most vulnerable private sector communities, as well as RSL and local authority properties.
Our current programmes target homes in the highest areas of deprivation (Wales Index of Multiple Deprivation 2008) All homes within ‘Lower Super Output Areas’ are visited, regardless of ownership, household income, etc., and all available measures offered to householders. Fuel Poverty does not recognise boundaries of tenure of locality, so our programme seeks to address this problem wherever it lies.
Many Householders qualify for insulation and heating measures free of charge:
- Over 70
- Claim a priority benefit
Many others who suffer Fuel Poverty, fall outside the conditions for assistance.
Community Warmth Wales offers assistance to these householders as well. If a vulnerable householder suffers Fuel Poverty, we will help free of charge – regardless of benefits claimed, or occupancy of household.
Definition: Fuel Poverty
Fuel Poverty – exists where a householder has to spend 10% or more of their income to maintain adequate heating in their home.
Householders who don’t fall into the above categories but require measures are offered them at a discount rate – we guarantee nobody pays more than £149 – some of our programmes offer insulation for as little as £29 currently.
The measures installed include loft and cavity wall installation and the possibility of internal and external wall insulation, gas connections, central heating, and renewable heating technologies.
Warm Wales do not just consider these measures – we offer:
- Benefit Advice
- Tariff Advice
- Energy Advice
- Energy Debt Management
- Home Fire Safety Checks
- Carbon Monoxide detectors
- Real Time Displays
We aim for community solutions – not just quick fixes.
