Possible grants for new gas connection
You may qualify for help in paying for your new gas connection.
A new scheme to extend the gas network in Wales and the South West of England has recently been launched by Wales and West Utilities (WWU), in partnership with Warm Wales Cymru Gynnes.
The scheme, which applies to existing domestic properties only, is for individuals and communities who have previously not been able to benefit from a connection to gas mains.
You could benefit from a grant if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- The community or area where you live is within the 20% most deprived areas in Wales or England as measured by the Government’s Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).
- You need to spend more than 10% of your income on household fuel.
- You receive Government benefits.
- You are over 70 years of age.
If wish to receive a quotation for a gas supply to your property, please contact Wales and West Utilities or visit their website Wales and West Utilities and fill in the online application form to request a quotation for your gas connection.
To find out if you qualify for a grant, fill in the attached form sent with your quotation and return in the prepaid envelope to us, and we will undertake the Fuel Poor eligibility criteria assessment on behalf of WWU.
How it works
Where the criteria are met, a voucher with a maximum value of around £1,815 will be sent to you. This voucher must then be submitted to Wales & West Utilities, along with a signed quotation acceptance form, to be redeemed against all or part of the cost of the gas connection.
Warm Wales will also be able to advise you if you are eligible to receive further funding towards the cost of a boiler, internal pipe work, gas appliance, etc.
