Warm Homes, Healthy Futures
Warm Wales is working to tackle the health impacts of cold homes and reduce pressures on primary care services as a delivery partner of National Energy Action’s Warm Homes, Healthy Futures project.
Living in a cold home is linked with negative impacts on health and well-being, such as:
· Respiratory issues – asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
· Cardiovascular issues – hypertension, heart disease and heart attacks
· Increased risk of stroke
· Increased risk of hypothermia
· Mental health issues – anxiety, stress, depression, overwhelm
· Excess winter deaths

Through this project:
- We are taking referrals from professionals working in health and social care. We can offer support to patients and clients who are struggling to keep their homes warm and/or pay their utility bills.
- We are also offering free awareness sessions to health and social care professionals to raise awareness of the health impacts of cold homes and how to get support for your patients and clients.
If you are a health or social care professional interested in knowing more, please contact Helen Roach, Project Manager on [email protected]. You can make a referral via our online form. Please make sure you state in the notes what agency you’re referring from.
Any member of the public wanting support should fill out our online form or call 0800 091 1786 and one of our advisors will get back to you as soon as possible.

Warm Homes, Healthy Futures will run until March 2026 and is funded by the Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance Fund. The programme is supported by the gas networks, Cadent, Northern Gas Networks, SGN, and Wales and West Utilities.
